Hello! Welcome to my website 2011.

2010 was a really exciting year for me. Most importantly, on July 10th, I got married to the wonderful and talented Tom Norris! It really was the most incredible day of our l ives.

Other news.....

Having played in the LSO as an 'extra' player for the last 6 years, I am now officially 'on trial' for a job in either the first or second violins after a successful audition in November. It's lots of hard work but extremely exciting and in the next few months I will be playing concerts with them in London and around Europe and the USA. I am also still on trial at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra for the no.4 first violin position which requires a lot of sitting up next to the leader which is formidable but an invaluable and thrilling experience.

In May 2010, my quartet, the Puertas Quartet, got into the Semi-finals of the Bordeaux International Quartet competition which was a totally amazing experience! Unfortunately, our cellist, Andrew Joyce, has just been made Principal Cello of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, making our UK concerts a bit harder to coordinate but that is not going to stop us as in April/May we are embarking on a 14 concert tour of NZ! Go to our website to hear some Ravel or Beethoven and to keep up to date with any Europe based activity.

Living Room in London, a 5 piece ensemble consiting of hang drum, (Manu Delago), bass clarinet, (Pepe Auer), 2 violins (Tom Norris and myself) and cello (Gregor Riddell) is seriously going somewhere. We had a really brilliant time in Lucerne in October followed by a full house for our 'Launch' at LSO St. Lukes. Playing new music written by the ensemble, commissions from new young composers, songs from Tom Norris' album 'Edge of the World' as well as arrangements of popular tunes across the genres, it really is a totally unique and incredible sound. We should have a series of concerts later in 2011 so come if you want to hear something really different. And look out for our video which is to be released really soon.

SO this is why I haven't been doing many solo concerts in the last few months,,,. On New Year's Day I played the Bruch violin concerto at St. Albans Abbey to a full house with the St. Albans Symphony Orchestra which was received with a great acclaim and I am now looking forward to a recital on February 3rd at St. Albans Boys School, with Anna Tilbrook.

In January 2010, I spent 5 weeks on my own in Banff Canada, at an artists retreat, studying Bach C major Sonata from a Baroque perspective. I was playing on Gut, rather than steel strings, and using a baroque bow. It was one of the most inspiring times of my life so far. I am recreating the feeling now as on the 12th February I will be at St. Albans Abbey again playing Mozart A major Violin Concerto on gut strings, with the Hertfordshire Classical Orchestra. I am so excited about all the different styles and music I am performing at the moment.

Come and join me at the Barbican, venues across London, St. Albans, New York wherever.....I really am living the dream!
